German Environment Agency 2023: Environmental aspects of different methods of administration of pharmaceuticals. Infographic. Online: uba.de/hmp

The decision to use a particular form of administration of a pharmaceutical can have an impact on the release of pharmaceutical substances into the environment. This infographic provides a comprehensive overview of common routes of administration of human medicines and their potential environmental impact. The infographic is intended to support medical and pharmaceutical professionals in their efforts to make environmentally conscious decisions.

The central message of this infographic is that doctors and pharmacists can contribute to environmental protection by choosing or recommending a form of administration without changing therapy or active ingredient.

The infographic is part of the UBA portal "Humanarzneimittel und Umwelt". With its CC-BY 4.0 license, it can be shared and edited, provided the author is acknowledged. You are welcome to share this important information with other interested parties and thus promote awareness of the need to make an environmentally conscious choice of medicinal products.
