NABU 2025: Wie sehen die Folgen der Klimakrise aus? Interactive infographic. Online: https://www.nabu.de/umwelt-und-ressourcen/klima-und-luft/klimawandel/

This interactive infographic shows what the future could look like in 20 to 30 years - in two scenarios: one with resolute climate protection and another scenario that leaves everything as it is. The intention is to make the consequences of climate change more tangible and to illustrate the urgency of climate protection measures.

Interactive use

You can find the infographic on the NABU website. It is easy to use, and you can switch between the two scenarios by clicking on the headline.

Scenario 1: "When we finally take action"

The positive scenario illustrates what our landscapes and habitats could look like if we significantly step up our efforts in climate protection and adaptation. It shows that decisive action can have a variety of positive effects:

  • healthy ecosystems with stable habitats for many species,
  • lower economic risks due to fewer natural disasters,
  • improved quality of life through sustainable and adaptable infrastructure.

Scenario 2: "If we do nothing"

The negative scenario shows the consequences of inadequate climate protection:

  • increasing heat waves, droughts and floods,
  • loss of species and the reduction of suitable habitats,
  • the spread of tropical diseases, and
  • high economic and social costs due to crop failures, infrastructure damage and an insecure food supply.

The scientific basis

The infographic was created on behalf of the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union Germany, the scenarios shown are based on studies that examine developments in Germany and Europe (see source reference in the infographic).

Focus on two future scenarios: The climate crisis and its effects
