On 21 April 2016, the final conference of the EU-FP7 funded project “POLIMP” took place in Brussels. How can climate policies be designed, what impacts do they have and what other options are there? These are important questions to stakeholders and policy-makers. The project POLIMP aims at making answers to these issues more easily accessible and understandable. To this end, POLIMP examines knowledge gaps for different policy and decision making levels and covers these with the help of existing research results.

The fifth POLIMP webinar featured a discussion on the topic: "After Paris: Implications of the Paris Agreement for EU climate policy" moderated by Ecologic Institute's Head of Climate, Matthias Duwe. Dr. Camilla Bausch (Director, Ecologic Institute) and Andrzej Błachowicz (Managing Director, Climate Strategies) assessed the main outcomes of the Paris negotiations and discussed what they could mean for the future of EU climate policy going forward. In advance of COP21, more than 170 countries have so far pledged to implement national climate actions, INDCs. While the Paris negotiations will decide the future framework for these INDCs, this event looked at means of supporting implementation of national contributions that already exist and could be strengthened. Specifically, the discussion focused on technology needs assessments (TNAs) and current climate finance flows.
