On 20 and 21 September 2024, the AgriKultur Festival took place in Berlin for the first time. In beautiful late summer weather, around 600 people came together in Berlin-Friedrichshain to learn and exchange ideas about regional agriculture and food. "The festival became a lively place of exchange, a two-day think tank," explain the organizers Annabella Jakab (Netzwerk Flächensicherung e. V.) and Sebastian Rogga (ZALF e. V.). "We succeeded in combining knowledge transfer with enjoyment, celebrations and get-togethers. Food, and therefore agriculture, affects us all and this was also reflected in the audience. Scientists, producers, activists, families, the curious and local residents - very different people came together, learned, ate and celebrated together. A great success that calls for a repeat."

20. September / KOPOS final conference

The first day of the festival was aimed at a specialist audience from Berlin and Brandenburg with the KOPOS final conference “New cooperation for access to the rural economy”. The KOPOS project presented itself and the results of its research work. With 70 registrations, interest in the project was high. Annabella Jakab and Sebastian Rogga provided insights into the five years of research work. Katrin Stary (BERLINER STADTGÜTER GmbH) welcomed the audience as a partner via video message. Jacob Fels (Tiny Farms GmbH) presented the Tiny Farms project supported and researched by KOPOS, Willi Lehnert (Bündnis junge Landwirtschaft) presented the FläsiZa pilot project for the sustainable leasing and use of municipal land, and Dr. Turgut Altuğ, Chairman of the Committee for the Environment and Climate Protection of the Alliance 90/The Greens parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives, gave an input on food and agriculture from a Berlin perspective. Afterwards, the participants were able to exchange ideas and engage in discussion with other KOPOS experts in a fishbowl format. The conference was moderated by Simone Zeil (e.fect).

21. September / AgriKultur Fest

On the second day of the festival, district mayor and patron Clara Herrmann (Alliance 90/The Greens) welcomed the visitors and emphasized the relevance of sustainable nutrition and regional agriculture. A wide range of discussion panels, workshops, concerts and lectures attracted over 500 people to Wriezener Park and the NIRGENDWO environmental education center. Around 20 initiatives and businesses from Berlin and Brandenburg presented themselves at the farmers' and information market and engaged in conversation with visitors.

The festival was organized by the KOPOS project, while BUND Landesverband Berlin curated the programme for the second day of the festival. Following the example of the Freiburg AgriKultur Festival, the festival placed sustainable agriculture and nutrition in a cultural context. The AgriKultur Festival Berlin was free and barrier-free.
