Is European Cleantech on Track for Decarbonisation and Competitiveness?

Promotional graphic for a webinar titled 'Is European Cleantech on track for decarbonisation and competitiveness?'. The graphic has a modern, clean design with a large, partially transparent circle overlaying a blurred image of technology or machinery, suggesting a focus on cleantech. The text is prominently displayed in the upper left corner with bold lettering, and abstract shapes in teal and pink add a dynamic feel to the visual.

The global cleantech race is speeding up, with the world's largest economies, from the US to China, Canada to India, investing in the green industries of the future. The EU has made building up its own cleantech industrial base a political priority – a cornerstone to securing not only its decarbonisation, but its future sustainable competitiveness. Yet doing so requires not only fresh regulation. If Europe is to learn anything from the success of the Inflation Reduction Act, it is that investment is a key piece of the puzzle.

In November 2023 ECNO released a briefing on cleantech and the challenges the sector faces, particularly with regard to financing. The Brussels debate of 2023 was dominated by pivotal legislations such as the Green Deal Industrial Plan, Net Zero Industry Act, Critical Raw Materials Act, Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP), and the Wind Power Package. However, the looming question of deploying adequate public and private finance remains a key issue as we embark on this crucial EU election year.

Agenda

Cleantech is one of ECNO's cross-cutting building blocks, in its economy-wide assessment of progress towards net-zero. In November 2023 ECNO released a briefing on cleantech and the challenges the sector faces, particularly with regard to financing.

In this webinar, we will examine what ECNO's analysis can tell us about the progress of the EU cleantech sector and the future of EU cleantech policy. As the European elections approach, and the global cleantech race only speeds up, finding an impactful European solution is increasingly necessary.

As the European elections draw near and the global cleantech race gains momentum, this webinar is an opportunity to be at the forefront of discussions shaping the future of the EU cleantech sector.
