The 4i-TRACTION Community of Experts Coffee Hour format is one of the stakeholder engagement activities. This dynamic series of Coffee Hours addresses and engages members of the "Community of Experts", a select group of experts with different backgrounds on the "4Is" of the project: Innovation, investment, infrastructure and integration. Each session explored critical issues in EU climate and energy policies, fostering an open and insightful exchange under the Chatham house rule.

The following Community of Experts Coffee Hours took place:

15 March 2024: Community of Experts Coffee Hour #8: Transforming the EU's chemical sector – Q&A with an industry expert 

The eights Community of Experts Hour addressed what challenges the industry sector is facing in the climate transition and what policy actions are needed to accelerate it. More 

24 November 2023: Community of Experts Coffee Hour #7: EU innovation funding for climate neutrality

The seventh Community of Experts Hour addressed what options exist for developing EU innovation funding in line with the challenge of climate neutrality. More

8 September 2023: Community of Experts Coffee Hour #6: Public Procurement for Climate Neutrality

The sixth Community of Experts Hour focused on options to develop the EU procurement framework in line with the challenge of climate neutrality. More

23 June 2023: Community of Experts Coffee Hour #5: Integrated Infrastructure Planning

The fifth Community of Experts Hour focused on the policy instrument of Integrated Infrastructure Planning, shedding light on a pan-European view on transnational energy infrastructure. More

17 March 2023: Community of Experts Coffee Hour #4: Aligning finance with climate neutrality via mandatory bank transition plans

The fourth Community of Experts Hour focused on the question of how mandatory transition plans for banks can contribute to aligning investment and the financial system with climate neutrality. More

18 November 2022: Community of Experts Coffee Hour #3: A conversation with the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change

The third Community of Experts Coffee Hour considered the role of independent scientific expertise in policymaking. The Community was joined by the vice-chair of the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change (ESABCC), Professor Jette Bredahl Jacobsen.

24 June 2022: Community of Experts Coffee Hour #2: Decarbonising buildings between Fit for 55 and REPower EU

The second 4i-TRACTION Community of Experts Coffee Hour addressed the question of what recent developments on “Fit for 55” negotiations mean for decarbonising the buildings sector and whether REPowerEU can help to accelerate the process in the EU's quest to get off Russian fossil fuels. More

8 April 2022: Community of Experts Coffee Hour #1: The Future of EU Climate Policy in the Context of the Russian War in Ukraine

4i-TRACTION’s inaugural Community of Experts Coffee Hour discussed how Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and its geopolitical fallout will influence EU climate policy debates. More

Ecologic Institute coordinates the project "Transformative Policies for a Climate-neutral European Union (4i-TRACTION) Innovation, Investment, Infrastructure, and sectoral Integration", which is funded under the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Programme. In addition, Ecologic Institute leads the work on stakeholder engagement and dissemination, and the formulation of policy avenues.
