Biodiversity and Climate Change – Exploring Synergies

Raising current research questions and initiating scientific exchange at the interface of biodiversity and climate change was the aim of a status conference on 6 and 7 December 2024 in Berlin, which Ecologic Institute organised and implemented on behalf of the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN). The active participation of the scientific community was arranged to also identify gaps in knowledge and the need for further research. Ecologic Institute was responsible for the content planning (in close cooperation the the BfN), as well as the organization, implementation and follow-up of the event. The video recording and later editing was also carried out by Ecologic Institute by using its studio equipment. More than 50 participants from universities and research organisations took part in the two-day event that also included a networking dinner in the evening of day one.

 

To better address the challenges of climate change and dwindling biodiversity, it is necessary to identify research needs, close knowledge gaps and promote scientific exchange on these.
