On 19 May 2020, Doris Knoblauch moderated a media training for the research focus "Plastics in the Environment". The journalist Ralf Nestler provided the content input. In addition to his work at the Tagesspiegel, he also worked as a scientist at the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam. Nestler thus knows both sides of the relationship between science and journalism.

The webinar was conducted for the scientists of the project, as they identified uncertainties in dealing with the press.

First, the participants were introduced to the working methods of journalists. Afterward, the scientists were advised on how to present their content in a way that appeals to the broader public. The participants also discussed potential critical or negative experiences and their reservations about and wishes for journalists.
