From 22 to 28 September 2019, the Energy Future Exchange (EFEX) Program invites civil society leaders from the EU and US to join the EFEX Study Tour and experience the Future of Energy.
The EFEX tour itinerary includes meetings and site visits in Belgium and the Netherlands to explore innovative projects and pioneering approaches on energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, and renewable energy that are creating our shared energy future. You will see how civil society – from SMEs to large industry, high-tech innovators to policy researchers, community groups to trade organizations – are pushing the envelope for more aspirational and effective energy policy.
The program begins in the heart of European parliamentary democracy, Brussels, where participants will meet and engage with leaders in the European energy discussion, including during the EFEX Conference. From there, tour participants will visit Antwerp and its port of the 21st century; Rotterdam and its climate adaptation initiatives centered around efficient energy; and Amsterdam’s smart city approach to mobility. You will see the energy transition set in motion and continue to build the transatlantic network moving it forward.

Who can join the tour?
We welcome participants from the US and EU to join us for this weeklong exploration of the future of energy. We expect professionals from the areas of environment and energy to take part, in particular those working in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, and the transatlantic relationship. Members of civil society and the private sector are especially encouraged to register, but government officials are more than welcome.
What does it cost?
Participants are asked to contribute 1,300 USD toward program costs, covering accommodation for six nights, three meals per day, transportation in and between tour cities, entrance and participation fees for tour activities, and all necessary program materials. For more information on participation fees and registration, please visit the project website: www.energyfuturex.org/portfolio/brustudytour/ or contact us.
What is EFEX?
EFEX is a joint initiative of ACEEE, the Ecologic Institute in Washington DC, and the Ecologic Institute in Berlin, and is made possible through financial support of the Delegation of the European Union to the United States’ Transatlantic Civil Society Dialogue program.
