The project serves to develop a dynamic and quantitative computer-based sustainabiliy model, that can be used in management games and enables to better understand societal interactions in the context of technological efficiency improvements, social innovation and socio-economic effects. The model focuses on further developing a systemic understanding on dynamic interactions of sustainable developments – much less on providing a clear-cut simulation prognostic or projection.
In order to achieve this, the project will:
- develop the model based on preparatory scientific work,
- test the model to learn about the model's system behaviour and enable to derive policy recommendations,
- make the model accessible via a planning game and make publicly available the modelling results.
Model development is done through participatory processes between the project partners, based on the tool iMODELER from Consideo. This tool offers developing qualitative conceptualisations, quantitative (System Dynamics) models and running management games without having to change the tool. Collaborative working processes engaging stakeholders are key to model development, e.g. through collaborative online modeling.
Ecologic Institute is responsible for developing conceptualisation and providing information on relevant ecological parameter (environmental impacts and resource use).
