Human-caused marine pollution presents an increasing threat to biological diversity. This kick-off event of the event series entitled "Biodiversity - local/global" depicts the dangers. In his presentation R. Andreas Kraemer, Founding Director and CEO of Ecologic Institute, describes the extent of the global marine pollution and it's effects on the diversity of marine life. The project Baltadapt addressed the issue of climate change adaptation as a macro-regional challenge in the Baltic Sea Region. At the final conference the project results were presented. During the conference Ecologic Institute's Susanne Altvater, together with Lotta Andersson (SMHI), officially presented the final products of the project, the Baltic Sea Region Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and its accompanying Action Plan. Dr. Wolfgang Urban, Fellow at Ecologic Institute, spoke at the 7th VDI conference "Biogas 2013." He informed about the objectives and guidelines as well as the current status of discussions on the funding framework for renewable energies. He also discussed the possible contribution of bioenergies to future energy supply and future challenges. The presentation slides are available for download.
