Digital Solutions for Sustainable Consume

Kick-off event of the stakeholder dialogue

Event
Date
Location
Berlin, Germany

The BMUV is organising a stakeholder dialogue to find digital solutions together with experts from research and practice and to further develop concepts that facilitate sustainable and circular consumption decisions in everyday life. Against this backdrop, the kick-off event will take place in Berlin on 13 November 2024.

Background

Digital technologies to support sustainable consumption decisions have the potential to close material cycles, reduce CO₂ emissions and increase resource efficiency. However, the possibilities are far from exhausted.

In the BMUV project 'Designing and planning digital solutions to promote sustainable consumption for a circular economy', we will therefore be working with you over the coming months to discuss innovative ideas and drive forward their concrete implementation. Our aim is to support consumers in their everyday lives to make their consumption decisions according to sustainable and circular criteria and to extend the lifespan of products.

Numerous existing digital approaches – such as repair platforms or sharing initiatives – have already been analysed in the project. We now invite stakeholders to share their expertise and perspectives, essential for the further development that now lies ahead. With the stakeholder's support, practical solutions can be developed and existing hurdles identified and overcome at an early stage. We would like to explore the following questions together:

  • Which of the approaches presented are particularly interesting and promising for the development of concrete further steps?
  • What strengths and weaknesses do you see in the solutions presented?
  • Which solutions should also be considered?

The event and the subsequent online focus groups offer the opportunity to share expertise and to network with various stakeholders from science, civil society, industry and politics and to directly influence the development of digital solutions and thus contribute to the sustainable and circular consumption of the future.
