Sina, Stephan: The German Federal Climate Change Act. In: Barczak, Anna et al. (eds) 2024: Współczesne wyzwania prawa ochrony klimatu. Warsaw: Wolters Kluwer Polska.

As an output of the international academic conference "Towards the Polish Climate Protection Act" on 7 September 2022 in Szczecin, Wolters Kluwer Poland has published an edited volume entitled "Współczesne Wyzwania Prawa Ochony Klimatu" (Contemporary challenges of climate law). Its editors are Anna Barczak (University of Szczecin), Maria Magdalena Kenig-Witkowska (University of Warsaw) and Marcin Stoczkiewicz (Client Earth Poland). The volume comprises a collection of essays by legal practitioners and researchers on important issues of contemporary climate law, including analysis of climate laws and court rulings from a national (mostly Polish), EU and international perspective. In particular, it includes an essay on key assumptions of the Polish draft framework act on climate protection prepared by Client Earth Poland, which is presented in the annex. All but two essays are in Polish language.

Dr. Stephan Sina, Senior Fellow at Ecologic Institute, contributed an English language essay on the German Federal Climate Change Act. He describes the development and main features of the Act, as well as its revision based on the decision of the Federal Constitutional Court on 24 March 2021. He also presents lessons learned and good practices, and addresses challenges.
