Die deutsche Alexander-von-Humboldt-Stiftung verleiht jährlich Fellowship-Stipendien an Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftler aus den USA und nimmt jetzt Bewerbungen für den Zeitraum 2009-2010 entgegen. Das Stipendium gewährleistet Unterstützung für einen einjährigen Aufenthalt in Deutschland zur beruflichen Weiterbildung, zum Studium oder zur Forschung. Der Bewerbungsschluss für die 2009-2010 Stipendien ist der 31. Oktober 2008.

The programme, which is under the patronage of the German Chancellor, allows the fellows to carry out a project of their own design in cooperation with a German host. It also incorporates an intensive language course in Germany, a four-week introductory seminar in Bonn and Berlin, a study trip around Germany and a final meeting in Berlin. These activities provide additional insights into the social, cultural, economic and political life of Germany.

Candidates from all professions and disciplines, but especially individuals in the humanities, law, social sciences and economics, are eligible to apply. The applications are reviewed by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and need to reach the following address by the application date:
