Gerardo Anzaldúa is a Senior Fellow at Ecologic Institute. His interests include water policy, adaptation and resilience to climate change, innovation management, resource efficiency and biodiversity conservation. He is a native Spanish speaker, is fluent in English and has good knowledge of German.

Since 2010, Gerardo Anzaldúa has been conducting research on the economic and social aspects of the EU Water Framework Directive. As a member of the European Topic Centre on Inland Coastal and Marine waters (ETC-ICM) from 2010 to 2022, he supported the European Environment Agency (EEA) in its research and assessment of European waters. His activities here included the study of water pricing policies and water governance structures, the development of water resource efficiency indicators, the evaluation of public participation processes, and the analysis of water scarcity and drought policy in the EU.

Gerardo Anzaldúa has conducted cost-benefit analyses of adaptation and mitigation projects across Europe. He has also led the development of methodological frameworks and guidelines to evaluate changes in the capacity of ecosystems to provide services; to incorporate the notion of ecological limits into regional bioeconomy strategies and to help restoration managers identify and tap various funding and financing sources to upscale their projects. Currently, he is leading the institute's contribution to the evaluation of the European Platform for Climate Adaptation, Climate-ADAPT.

Before joining Ecologic Institute, Gerardo Anzaldúa worked as a junior operations manager in the manufacturing industry in Mexico (initially in the ceramics- and later in the food & beverage sector). There, he was responsible for the performance and management of production lines and collaborators, and undertook the design of new machinery and operational procedures to enable energy- and water use efficiency.

Gerardo Anzaldúa has a Bachelor of Science degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico) in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Electrical Engineering. He received a double master's degree in European Business from ESCP Europe.
