Stories have the unique potential to inspire change, shape perceptions, and foster understanding across diverse audiences. This collection of stories, developed as part of the INTERLACE project, aims to convey the profound emotional and cultural importance natural surroundings have for local communities and showcase the power of collective action. The included stories are inspired by the experiences of community members in Envigado (Colombia), Granollers (Spain), Portoviejo (Ecuador) and Corredor Biológico Interurbano Río María Aguilar - CBIMA- (Costa Rica) and are accompanied by vibrant illustrations.

Explore different perspectives

The INTERLACE project seeks to empower cities to restore and rehabilitate urban ecosystems through nature-based solutions (NBS) and thus, the narratives begin with a focus on environmental degradation – pollution, neglect, or infrastructural disruption – and follow the inspiring journey of collective action that has been implemented to restore or improve specific vital spaces. Inclusivity is a central theme in these stories: they give a voice to marginalized groups, include children, and weave in traditional perspectives. The collection of stories invites readers to follow the voice of the Yurah River, join the restoration of Mamey Park by the Portoviejo River, contribute to the creation of the "Park of Green Dreams", and help revive the water memories of the Congost River.
