On 15 October 2019 the experts' workshop within the context of the project "Improving Financial Security in the Context of the Environmental Liability Directive (ELD)" will take place in Brussels.
The workshop will first offer an
overview of the current situation of financial security for ELD liabilities in the Member St ates. The project team will then present options for financial security, which will be di scussed in a World Café session in the afternoon, thus offering a chance for debate and exchange of ideas. The project, which started in December 2018, examines and analyses aspects of financial security and insurance markets for ELD and other environmental liabilities. To this end, the project team is implementing the following tasks:
- Explored the state of financial security for ELD and other environmental liabilities in all Member States
- Outlined the developments in financial security at EU level during the last 10 years
- Investigated and formulated the most promising and appropriate financial security options
The above findings and analysis will be presented in the upcoming ELD study, which will be accompanied by report describing the situation in each of the individual Member States (Member State reports).
The project’s success depends in large part on information and facts from ELD stakeholders and experts. Therefore, the workshop has been designed to gain feedback and input. In addition, the project team is sharing available drafts of the Member State reports with participants to gather additional information and facts that will be used to finalise the Member State reports.
