Ecologic Institute welcomes twenty climate scholars from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation on their study tour "Knowledge Transfer for Effective Climate Protection Policies". During their tour the scholars will visit different institutions working in the field of climate change, such as the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) and the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA). During their stop at Ecologic Institute the scholars will have the opportunity to learn more about the Institute itself with a focus on climate-related issues. After an introduction to the Institute, Dr. Grit Martinez will give a brief history of environmentalism and adaptation to climate change in Germany. Dr. Nico Stelljes and Chiara Mazzetti will talk about bottom-up climate strategies towards a sustainable Europe derived from the project BASE. Focus will be on the BASE results from the field study site Timmendorfer Strand and insights from dissemination activities. Finally Lena Donat will talk about the international climate negotiations in advance of the upcoming COP21 in Paris.

Following input from Ecologic Institute, Mr. Matthias Nüßgen from the European Institute for Sustainable Transport (EURIST) will talk about the issue of Transport and Climate.

The event takes place within the framework of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Ecologic Institute. On 13 October 2015, Ecologic Institute Berlin will celebrate 20 years of successful environmental research and policy consulting. Several events are taking place between 6 and 13 October to mark this milestone. More information can be found here: /anniversary-event
