The efficient use of raw materials is becoming more and more important, both economically and ecologically. In order to accommodate this significance, the transfer project aims at strengthening innovative powers by integrating and connecting similar professional Institutes, both within and outside the Fraunhofer compound. The r² Event Series supported this network on a personal and professional level. The Ecologic Institute contributed to the project through the organization of the following events:
- r² Kick-off Conference
Innovative Technologies for the Efficient Use of Resources - Resource-Intensive Production Processes
Bonn, 23 June 2009
- r² Workshop
Sustainability Review
Karlsruhe, 24-25 November 2009
- first r² status seminar
Berlin, 4 November 2010
- r² Workshop
Innovative Technologies and Services: Increasing Resource Efficiency through Integrated Product-Service Systems
Frankfurt, 11 May 2011
- second r² status seminar
Berlin, 26-27 October 2011
Background
The project "r²" aims at supporting the goal of the German national sustainability strategy to double Germany’s productivity regarding the use of energy and raw materials between 1994 and 2020. Strengthening and promoting innovations in the area of resource efficiency in commodity-intensive sectors are means of implementation. In this context, the Fraunhofer-Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI is heading an integration and transfer project with the purpose of linking and integrating related and secondary research.
