On 3 February 2012, the University of California at San Diego (UC-San Diego) hosted "An International Conference on Renewable Energy in the U.S., China, and the EU: Technology Trade and Policy." Dominic Marcellino, Fellow at Ecologic Institute Washington DC, served on a panel entitled "Policies on Renewable Energy: US, China, and EU Experiences." The presentation is available for download.
He gave a presentation [pdf, 2.9 MB, English] on the German experience with renewable energy policy, which included lessons learned from Ecologic Institute's 2011 study tour to Germany and Austria as part of the I-CITE project. Participants were particularly interested in the development of Germany's renewable energy policy over time and also how the country is dealing with future challenges including: the build out of the electrical grid to broaden the use of renewable electricity and Germany's nuclear phase out.
The conference was sponsored by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), as well as the Center on Pacific and Emerging Economies and 21st Century China Program of UC San Diego.
