On 31 July 2024, the mayors of the Colombian cities of Villa Rica, Hato Nuevo, El Charco, and Ospina visited the Ecologic Institute as part of a study trip organized by the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Local Government Associations (FLACMA).

During the visit, the mayors engaged in an exchange where they presented information about their municipalities, highlighting their environmental potential and challenges. They also had an open discussion with the institute's researchers on various areas of work, including water management and agriculture.

A special focus was given to nature-based solutions, presenting the INTERLACE project. This project is based on cooperation between European and Latin American cities for ecosystem restoration and nature-based solutions. Envigado, a partner city in the project, shared its cooperation experience in INTERLACE, explaining how it applied nature-based solutions in its biodiversity and land-use policies.

This event is part of the active effort by the Ecologic Institute to support knowledge exchange between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean. The visit demonstrates how open dialogue creates new learning opportunities, cooperation networks, and trust to advance key issues for the inhabitants of both regions.
