This infographic visualizes the range of hydropower plants included in the Atlas Fish Protection & Downstream Fish. The entries in the atlas cover all basic turbine types. Sites with Kaplan turbine (42) are the most common, followed by Francis turbine (21). Other turbine types include bulb turbine (6), VLH turbine (2), flow-through turbine (1), Pelton turbine (1) and other turbine types (9).The infographic is part of a fact sheet on fish protection and downstream fish migration measures.

The infographic is published under a creative commons license CC BY 4.0. That means it can be copied and redistributed in any medium or format and for any purpose as long as appropriate credit to the authors (Ecologic Institute, Ingenieurbüro Floecksmühle) is given.

A closer look at the different types of hydropower plants shows that the site inputs reflect well both their spectrum and the frequency distribution in Germany.
