Which trends and developments characterise the energy system in the overlapping phases of change of the energy transition? Which opportunities and also which risks are borne by digital technologies and data-based business models in view of an ecologically oriented energy transition? How do the structures of players change and what challenges do different actors face? These questions are the subject of a short study written by Lisa Meinecke and Christine Lucha of the Ecologic Institute on behalf of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. Interim results were presented on 26 September 2018 in the technical talk Digital Readiness at the Heinrich Böll Foundation and discussed with representatives from politics, associations, and the (energy) industry. The final publication is available for download.
