Parallel to the integration process at the European level, similar processes take place within the Member States as well. With this perspective in mind the project "Best Practices for Integrating Environmental Protection Requirements into other Sector Policies" aims to highlight the integration processes in the Member States and to gain from them experiences for the further progression of the process.
The core of this project is the realisation of the workshop "Best Practices for Integrating Environmental Protection Requirements into other Sector Policies". The workshop took place on behalf of the German Ministry for the Environment and in co-operation with the European Commission, DG Environment. The workshop brought together different experiences of the member states with regard to integration of environmental issues with the related legal, administrative, political and economic practices and associated mechanisms.
Thereby consideration was given to the following aspects in particular:
- Institutions,
- Practices,
- Integration in certain sectors,
- Horizontal topics.
The primary goal of the workshop was to prove the suitability for transfer of the compiled experiences into other Member States. The participants were representatives of the Ministries for the Environment and other Ministries of Member States.
