Ecologic's forest expert Richard Tarasofsky published an article in the Policy Trend Report 2001/2002 by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES).
The article surveys recent developments in global multilateral environmental agreements that relate to the conservation of forests. These include the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Convention on Desertification, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), and the Ramsar Convention. It identifies the measures in these agreements applicable to forests and the participation of local populations. Relevant actions taken by institutions created by these agreements are also surveyed.
