After an introductory speech by H. E. Samuel Zbogar, video messages were received from their excellencies, the other Green Group ministers:
- René Castor Salazar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religions, Republic of Costa Rica
- Össur Skarphéoinsson, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Iceland
- George Yeo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Singapore
- Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, United Arab Emirates
(Jorge Borges, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Co-operation and Communities, Cape Verde, had just been appointed following an election and could not contribute for scheduling reasons.)
The speech and video messages were followed by an expert panel debate with members of diplomatic corps and scientific community in the audience. The panelists were:
- Mr. Koos Wieriks, Advisor to the UN Secretary General's Board on Water and Sanitation, Netherlands
- Prof Dr Lucka Kajfez Bogataj, Professor at the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia
- Mr. Xavier Leflaive, Principal Administrator, Environment Directorate, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Paris, France
The conclusions and key messages of the three panelists and R. Andreas Kraemer as moderator of the event were recorded on video and later in the day shown to UN Ambassadors meeting at the United Nations in New York.
R. Andreas Kraemer advises the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia in relation to the Green Group, and chaired the event on World Water Day 2011 in Ljubljana.
