Dr. Lindsey Hendricks-Franco is a Fellow at Ecologic Institute. In her research, she focuses on agriculture policy, soil monitoring, plant ecology, landscape resilience to wildfires as well as science communication. She works in English and Spanish, and also speaks German.

At Ecologic, Dr. Lindsey Hendricks-Franco is a major contributor to the SPRINT project, elaborating transition pathways for reduced reliance on synthetic pesticides. Her role is to shape pesticide policy and regulation based on research findings on risks to the environment and human health, with a focus on environmental monitoring.

Before joining Ecologic Institute, Dr. Lindsey Hendricks-Franco led landscape-scale research projects on the post-fire recovery of plants and soils in California, collaborating with public research and land management agencies. Overall, she has worked on a variety of topics at the interface of ecology and environmental management, such as plant invasion and mammal grazing impacts on soil.

Dr. Lindsey Hendricks-Franco has a strong background in education and knowledge dissemination, having worked as a high school teacher and a science pedagogy instructor for graduate students. As a university researcher, she was a frequently invited to share research findings with non-academic audiences, such as naturalists, consultants and public agencies. In particular, she worked with science journalists to publish several public-interest articles on wildfire research. Moreover, she worked with an international education non-profit to develop a program of hands-on science experiences across Europe.

Dr. Lindsey's doctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley focused on the recovery of plant diversity and soil health after wildfires. Her projects were supported by selective US grants, including the Joint Fire Science Program Graduate Research Innovation Award (GRIN), the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (GRRP) and the Philomathia Graduate Fellowship in the Environmental Sciences. During her bachelor's degree at Goucher College (Maryland), she gained a broad foundation in biology, accompanied by a minor degree in Spanish and a certificate in international studies. At Goucher College, she conducted and published independent research on the ecology of an invasive plant in the Chesapeake Bay estuary.
