We are pleased to announce the appointment of Christoph Heinrich as the new Director of Ecologic Institute. He will assume his position on 1 August 2024. Christoph Heinrich takes over from Dr. Camilla Bausch, who is stepping down at the end of this summer after more than 20 years of dedicated work, including almost a decade as Director.

Experience in international nature conservation and environmental protection

Before joining Ecologic Institute, Christoph Heinrich worked in the management bodies of WWF Germany for 19 years, including as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from 2022 to 2023. His work at WWF Germany was defined in particular by the 17 years (2006 to 2023) as Chairman for Nature Conservation, a position he retained during his time as CEO. Before joining WWF, he worked at the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union Germany (NABU) from 1997 to 2004 as a Nature Conservation Officer and from 1999 as Head of the Nature Conservation and Environmental Policy Department.

Commitment to cooperative leadership

Christoph Heinrich expresses his expectations as follows: "I am very much looking forward to my new role at Ecologic Institute. For me, leadership means teamwork, and I want to build on Ecologic Institute's expertise and existing collaborations. Together with the employees and partners, I want to lead Ecologic Institute into the future."

Dr. Camilla Bausch shared her thoughts on the transition: "Christoph will be a strong successor who can lead the Institute with a steady hand and who can take it to the next level. I look forward to following the Institute's positive development under his leadership in the future – with new insights, as a reliable partner, an innovative source of ideas, and an important voice across borders."

Ecologic Institute is looking foreward to starting this new era. Christoph Heinrich's extensive network and expertise in management, strategic planning, and communication will be of great value in further strengthening Ecologic Institute’s transdisciplinary research and educational initiatives. The change in leadership promises stability and new energy for the Institute’s work to shape a sustainable future.

In Christoph Heinrich, we gain a Director with leadership qualities and fresh impetus. We are confident that he will maintain our proven quality and drive our transdisciplinary research forward.
