On invitation of DG Economic and Financial Affairs and DG Environment, Ingo Bräuer, Fellow at Ecologic, gave a presentation on the use of Market Based Instruments in the field of nature conservation.

The focus of the presentation, held at the ENVECO 21 meeting on 25 April 2006, was an analysis of success or failure of these instruments and their potential for further use in the future. The main focus of the ENVECO 21 meeting was the new EU-Environmental Liability Directive and its impacts on Member States. The ENVECO-Group is a network of economists from the Member States' Ministries of the Environment and Ministries of Finance discussing issues about environmental economics (called ENVECO).

The presentation of Ingo Bräuer can be downloaded [pdf, 274 KB, English].

The presentation builds on the results of the project: The Use of Market Incentives to Preserve Biodiversity.
