The "EU Common Forum on Contaminated Land" was initiated in 1994 and provides a discussion forum for experts from all EU Member States and Accession Countries. Main topics are the develoment of strategies for the treatment of contaminated sites and for land recycling. Key aspects of the 9th meeting of the Forum in November 2002 at Berlin are the Groundwater Directive, Environmental Liability, Soil Policy, Sustainable Landuse, the 6th RTD Framework Program and two EU research projects (EUGRIS, METROPOLIS).

The Common Forum on Contaminated Land was initiated in 1994. Its general objectives are to develop strategies for the treatment of contaminated sites and for land recycling with respect to "sustainable resource protection" for contaminated land and groundwater. The main goals of the meeting were to discuss ideas and positions on the Groundwater Daughter Directive, the EU Environmental Liability Directive, the EU Soil Policy, sustainable landuse incl. brownfields redevelopment projects, the 6th RTD Framework Program as well as research projects. Among the participants were representatives of the European Commission, the European Environment Agency, ministries of the environment, or by their request, other ministries or institutions and the environment agencies of different EU Member States and Accession Countries. Ecologic took part in organising the 9th meeting of the Common Forum on Contaminated Land joined with thematic presentations and the conference summary.
