Very often it is easier to quantify the costs of environmental policies than the benefits. The Ecologic Institute leads a consortium to develop guidance and a tool for employees of environmental agencies, which enables them to quantify the environmental and other benefits of proposed policies.

Together with INFRAS, the IER in Stuttgart and theFifo in Köln the Ecologic Institute will develop guidance and an Excel tool for the valuation of the benefits of environmental policies. The work focuses on the benefits of environmental policies but will include the valuation of all categories of benefits (environmental, social and economic). The work will be conducted in close cooperation with potential users of the guidance. In two workshops and two reality tests the guidance will be tested to ensure its practicability and its relevance.
