Gutiérrez Miranda, M.; Burgos Cuevas, N.; Felthöfer, C.; Knoblauch, D. (2024): From ideas to action. INTERLACE impulses for successfully implementing NbS in cities. INTERLACE Project Deliverable 2.4.

The report ‘From Ideas to Action’ presents the strategy papers of the seven INTERLACE partner cities, which were developed in close cooperation with local stakeholders in Europe and Latin America. These papers highlight tailor-made strategies for nature-based solutions (NbS), including the revitalisation of urban parks in Chemnitz and the development of a search engine for green infrastructure projects in Kraków. The aim is to effectively address the unique challenges of each city, such as climate change, biodiversity loss and social inequality.

Focus on participation and innovative tools

The authors emphasise the importance of participatory processes that ensure the close involvement of the local population and stakeholders. They also present innovative tools that support cities in the development and implementation of NbS. The publication thus offers not only theoretical insights, but also practical approaches to successfully shape the path from idea to implementation.

General information

The publication was published as part of the INTERLACE project, which supports cities worldwide in restoring urban ecosystems and making them sustainable. Ecologic Institute made a decisive contribution to the publication by collating research findings and developing concrete recommendations for action.

This report uses concrete examples to show how cities can tackle challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and social inequalities through adapted NbS strategies.
