The EU-funded project GoNaturePositive! launched an open consultation on the nature-positive economy (NPE). It is important that stakeholder interests are captured, and the project is calling on experts from across the Policy & Public Sector, Businesses including SME’s, Nature-Based Enterprises, Finance and Investors, Environmental NGOs, Citizens and Community Groups, Research Organisations, and Standards Bodies to help shape the future.

The project's five key messages include:

  1. A Nature-Positive Economy means that the net results of all economic activities combined, leads to an absolute increase in nature towards full recovery.
    Key concept: Nature recovery
  2. Operationalising the Nature-Positive Economy means that businesses, governments, and other ACTORS take ACTIONS across multiple SCALES and SECTORS, aligning with SOCIETAL FACTORS to improve social-ecological well-being and equity.
Key concept: Interconnection, well-being and equity.
  3. While the nature crisis exposes significant dependencies, impacts, and risks on nature, we propose that the NPE also presents multiple, new opportunities.
Key concept: New opportunities, sustainable future.
  4. It is essential to measure progress towards achieving the nature-positive economy.
    Key concept: Progress and improvement
  5. An integrated whole of society approach, respecting human rights, is needed to achieve the Nature-Positive Economy.
    Key concept: Inclusion and interdependence
