Nature-based Solutions (NbS) have immense potential to address various environmental challenges, but their success hinges on inclusive and meaningful engagement of all stakeholders. To better understand how to foster truly inclusive engagement in the co-creation of NbS, NetworkNature's Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Taskforce 6 on Co-creation and Governance invites you to participate in a short survey until 16 August 2024.

Purpose of the Survey

This survey aims to collect your experiences and perspectives on inclusive engagement in NbS co-creation. We seek to identify successful strategies, critical challenges, and lessons learned in meaningfully engaging commonly excluded stakeholders in NbS co-creation processes.

Who Are Commonly Excluded Stakeholders?

"Commonly excluded stakeholders" refers to social groups with a high interest in or significantly affected by NbS, but are unable or unwilling to participate or meaningfully contribute to co-creation processes. Exclusion can stem from personal factors, socio-economic and demographic inequalities, procedural injustices, or broader social, economic, and political conditions.

What Is Co-Creation?

Co-creation is a systematic process of creating new solutions with people (not for them) and involves citizens and communities in policy and service development. This process spans three intertwined phases of the NbS lifecycle: planning, delivery, and stewardship.

Use of Survey Results

The results of this survey will inform the development of a collaborative workshop on inclusive participation around NbS, as well as a collaborative publication collating lessons learned and key messages for policy uptake.
