The Global Go To Think Tank Ranking was launched in capitals around the world on 26-27 January 2017. Ecologic Institute was ranked in seven categories and remains among the Top 10 Environmental Think Tanks globally. The Berlin launch event took place on 27 January, featuring a panel discussion focused on the increasing significance of think tanks in the context of the G20. Ecologic Institute Director, Dr. Camilla Bausch was the moderator.
Ecologic Institute was named for the seventh consecutive year, appearing in seven categories. Among 95 globally ranked Top Environment Policy Think Tanks, Ecologic Institute achieved 9th place. The Institute has ranked under the top 10 Think Tanks every year in this category since 2010.

Moving up 10 points from 2015, Ecologic Institute was ranked in 6th place from 70 Top Think Tanks with the Best Quality Assurance and Integrity Policies and Procedures. In further results, the Institute achieved a rank of 32 among the 95 ranked Top Think Tanks in Western Europe and 51 among Top Energy and Resources Policy Think Tanks, moving up in both categories from the 2015 results. The Institute was also named among Think Tanks with the Most Significant Impact on Public Policy, having ranked consistently in this category since 2013. Finally, the Institute achieved strong rankings among Best Managed Think Tanks and Think Tanks with the Best Use of Media (Print or Electronic).
The rankings were launched by the University of Pennsylvania Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) around the world in approximately 60 countries and 70 cities on 26-27 January. In Berlin, the Stiftung Mercator, Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) collaborated on the event, introducing the results in the framework of the T20 and the growing significance of think tanks in the G20. The event featured a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Camilla Bausch of Ecologic Institute.
The TTCSP is based at the University of Pennsylvania and serves to increase the profile, capacity and performance of think tanks at the national, regional and global levels. A part of this mission includes the production of the annual Global Go To Think Tank Index, which this year included more than 2,500 contributions from universities, journalists, policy makers, and think tank scholars and executives.
