Framework Contract to Monitor LIFE Projects and Support Communication about the LIFE Programme

Project
Duration
-

Ecologic Institute, as part of a pan-European consortium led by NEEMO, is supporting the European Commission in a four-year framework contract by monitoring LIFE+ projects and contributing to communication about the LIFE programme and other linked activities. The main objectives of the contract are to provide:

  1. Assistance and financial and technical support for the monitoring of open and new LIFE projects
  2. Assistance for the evaluation and selection of proposals for traditional and integrated projects
  3. Assistance in the overall analyses and reporting of the project results (in terms of environmental and economic impacts and policy implications)
  4. Assistance and technical support for the communication activities of the LIFE programme.

The LIFE programme is the EU's funding instrument for the environment, aiming to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with European added value. Amongst other aims, LIFE-funded projects contribute to the shift towards a resource-efficient, low-carbon and climate-resilient economy, to the protection and improvement of the quality of the environment and to halting and reversing biodiversity loss, including the support of Natura 2000 network and tackling the degradation of ecosystems. The program further strives to support better environmental and climate governance at all levels, including better involvement of civil society, NGOs and local actors.

Ecologic Institute will provide a range of services within the framework contract, including for example conducting in-depth technical and financial evaluations of LIFE Integrated Projects and developing e-training courses on EU environmental policy fields (e.g. biodiversity and nature conservation, green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, agriculture, forest, bioenergy and soil policy, Water Framework Directive, resource efficiency and the circular economy, etc).
