Project
Duration

The project analyzed the potential of an integrated national tourism policy against the background of globalisation and identified opportunities for strengthening the respective German position in an international context.

The project included a workshop entitled "Sustainable Tourism in the Age of Globalisation - Challenges of German Tourism policy". The workshop, was held on 27 January 1998 in Berlin, aimed at discussing in the inner circle of tourism experts various international developments and their influence on the German tourism sector. In addition, consequences for a sustainable tourism policy in Germany were displayed. The workshop focused on the consequences of technology on tourism, and on changing supply and demand structures. Finally structures and instruments of international tourism policy as well as policy options were assessed.

Ecologic published two German books on "Environmental protection and Tourism" and "Tourism and Environmental Policy".
