Low Carbon Accelerator – Investment Opportunities for a Low Carbon Economy

Project
Duration

The Low Carbon Accelerator (LCA) is a closed-ended investment company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange. LCA invests in a diverse portfolio of unquoted private companies providing low carbon products and services, which deliver immediate reductions in carbon dioxide emissions. R. Andreas Kraemer of Ecologic advises the fund.

Over the last ten years a set of technologies and business solutions have been developed by strong management teams  and technologists in UK, Europe and beyond, which address the need for sharp reductions in CO2 emissions. Many of these small and medium-sized businesses have now cracked their technology and are ready to scale up very quickly. Low Carbon Accelerator's investment focus is on buildings and building products; green fuels; energy generation and energy efficiency.

Low Carbon Accelerator, which was launched in October 2006, raising gross proceeds of £ 44.5 million, will use the net proceeds of its Initial Public Offering to invest in a portfolio of at least 20 private businesses over a 12-15 month period from admission. The fund has a target Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 30%.
