Why support us

As the world’s attention focuses increasingly on global climate change, the vision of Konrad von Moltke, an early pioneer of environmental governance and founding father of the Ecologic Institute, must be put to practice on both sides of the Atlantic, now more than ever. Conceived in the mid-1990s as part of the network of Institutes for European Environmental Policy, the Ecologic Institute has achieved a distinguished track record in applied environmental research and policy analysis. With the founding of the Ecologic Institute in Washington DC in April 2008, a major step was taken toward giving Konrad von Moltke’s vision a permanent home in North America enabling us to provide comparative analysis of environmental policies in the two jurisdictions with the longest traditions of environmental governance and regulation —the US and the European Union.

Individuals and organizations that value the Ecologic Institute’s non-partisan vision for international and transatlantic environmental policy work can help us bring our experiences and insights to the United States. Contributions to our programs at the Ecologic Institute in Washington DC, a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit incorporated in the District of Columbia, will support:

  • Rigorous comparative and international policy analysis and research across multiple sectors to identify innovative and effective solutions for environmental problems;
  • Events, workshops and conferences to promote dialogue among stakeholders and decision makers, foster policy learning, and raise awareness in the broader public;
  • Capacity building activities for policy makers in developing countries and countries with economies in transition;
  • Professional development for young environmental decision makers, through transatlantic exchanges supported by the Konrad von Moltke Fund;

An annual gift to the Ecologic Institute, Washington DC will contribute to the growth of our vision to expand understanding of environmental policy across national borders. How to support us

Thank you so much for considering a gift to Ecologic Institute, Washington DC. Ecologic Institute, Washington DC, is a legally and financially independent IRS 501(c)(3) public charity. Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of US law and can be made to the following programs and activities:

  • The Konrad von Moltke Fund for international exchanges
  • General operating support, to be used where funds are needed most
  • Restricted contributions to specific program areas

Contributions will be acknowledged, at the donors’ discretion, at the following levels on the Ecologic Institute, Washington DC website

To donate to the Ecologic Institutes in Europe

If you wish to make a donation directly to the Ecologic Institutes in Berlin, Brussels, or Vienna (and not go through the Ecologic Institute, Washington DC), US citizens can make an Advised Gift to the King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS), a US 501(c)(3) public charity, through the KBFUS Online Giving Center. Online gifts to the KBFUS are secure and tax deductible for US tax purposes. Here is how to proceed:

How we will acknowledge your donation

You will receive an email acknowledging your contribution within one week. For your tax records, the Ecologic Institute will send a letter by US Postal Service acknowledging your gift by the end of the tax year.
