The LEDDRA Policy Conference aimed to present selected and policy-related project findings and to discuss associated policy recommendations, as well as to develop new critical thinking to support future initiatives addressing Land and Ecosystem Degradation and Desertification (LEDD). The conference brought together LEDDRA researchers, policy makers from international, EU organizations, and Member States, as well as stakeholder groups and NGOs. The discussion and questions raised by the presentations and dialogue at the conference will contribute to ongoing efforts to combat land degradation and desertification at the international, European, and national levels. Ana Frelih-Larsen from Ecologic Institute gave a presentation regarding "European policies towards effective soil carbon managment" during the Global Soil Week 2013 in Berlin. The management of soil carbon can reverse the degradation of  agricultural soils. Although it is gaining recognition, existing european policy measures do not explicitly target this issue. Governance Screening of Global Land Use

Discussion Paper prepared by GLOBALANDS Project
Researchers of the project "GLOBALANDS – Global Land Use and Sustainability" have published a comprehensive governance screening analyzing the most relevant international policies with a high impact on global sustainable land use. The report further identifies current "windows of opportunity" to strengthen sustainable land use through international policies.
