Ecologic Institute US
The Ecologic Institute US is a think-tank for applied environmental research, policy analysis and consultancy. It is dedicated to bringing fresh ideas to environmental policy and sustainable development. Founded in 2008, the Ecologic Institute in Washington DC evolved out of the Transatlantic Program of Ecologic Institute, Berlin, Germany, and focuses on European environmental policy and integration, climate policy, transatlantic outreach, economics and infrastructure, the United States and European Union in the world, and biodiversity.
Ecologic Institute, Washington DC, is a legally and financially independent IRS 501(c)(3) public charity.
Ecologic Institute a Global Top 10 Environmental Think Tank again in 2011
Ecologic Institute again ranks 6th among Environment Think Tanks in the prestigious 2011 Global "Go-To Think Tank Index" of the University of Pennsylvania. Ecologic Institute - based in Berlin, Germany, and Washington DC - also reached 6th place in this category in the previous year's ranking. Among the Top 50 Think Tanks in Western Europe, Ecologic Institute took 37th place and was the only environmental think tank in this category. Read more ...
Sustainable San Mateo – The 2012 Indicator Report
For 15 years already, Sustainable San Mateo County (SSMC) has published its flagship indicator report for San Mateo County between San Francisco and the Silicon Valley in California. The overall aim of San Mateo County is to create a balance between economic growth, a healthy environment and an equitable society. In the report, approximately 30 indicators on the status and trends assess the extent to which this complex goal has been achieved. In addition, the report presents a different key theme every year, such as jobs or nutrition, which is presented and analyzed in greater breadth and detail. Read more ...

European Fisheries Fund (EFF) Sustainability Criteria
A new study has found that financial support is being allocated under the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) to activities with little or no evidence that they are environmentally or socially sustainable. The EFF's goal is to provide financial support for the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). Both the EFF and the CFP are responsible for the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources. Empirical Analysis of Associations between Trade and the Environment
This study investigates the prevailing theories about the effect of trade openness on environmental quality and resource management, providing new insights and empirical support to refute some of these theories. It builds on data collected through the Yale-Columbia 2010 Environmental Performance Index (EPI), which covers 163 countries and an extensive database of trade-related measures from academic and international sources.
