Elena Hofmann worked as a Research Assistant for Ecologic Institute in the areas of climate and energy. Her research interestes included European Union (EU) environmental policy, sustainable development, and international relations. She works in German and English and also has good knowledge of Spanish and Dutch.
At Ecologic Institute, Elena Hofmann contributed to the projects From "The Blue Sky above the Ruhr" to the "Energiewende", Support of the "Energy of the Future" Monitoring Commission and Welfare, Wealth and Work for Europe (wwwforEurope). From September 2012 to August 2013, Elena worked as an Ecological Volunteer for Ecologic Institute. Besides supporting the Organization Team, she assisted researchers in the projects Forum on Fish Protection and Downstream Fish Migration and Global Land Use and Sustainability (GLOBALANDS).
During her studies, Elena worked as a research assistant for a PhD candidate on cultural perspectives in biodiversity conservation at the International Center of Integrated Assessment and Sustainable Development (ICIS) in Maastricht (the Netherlands). From 2010 to 2011, she was a member of the faculty council of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Maastricht University.
In addition to her work at Ecologic Institut, Elena Hofmann is currently pursuing a Master's degree in International Relations at the Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin), the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin) and the University of Potsdam (all Germany). Additionally, she participates in a training course for young environmental activists: "Zukunftspiloten." Elena holds a BA in European Studies from the University of Maastricht and the Universitat de València (Spain). She graduated with her Bachelor's cum laude in August 2012. During her studies, she focused on sustainable development and the environmental policy of the European Union (EU).
