On 19 April 2016, Stephan Sina and Christiane Gerstetter, Senior Fellows at Ecologic Institute, presented a study on wildlife crime to the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) of the European Parliament in Brussels. The study was compiled by a consortium lead by Ecologic Institute and published recently on the European Parliament's website. The presentation is available for download.

The study had been commissioned by the European Parliament in the context of the EU Action Plan on Wildlife Trafficking adopted recently by the EU Commission. The presentation of the study focused on the conclusions and recommendations. In the subsequent Q & A section, issues raised included the need for additional legislation, the lack of national action plans, the level of ambition of the EU Action Plan and the impact of legal trade on wildlife trafficking.
