On 2 July 2015, Stephan Sina, Senior Fellow at Ecologic Institute, joined Bettina Kampman from CE Delft in a presentation and discussion of the mid-term evaluation of the Renewable Energy Directive at DG Energy in Brussels. The study had been carried out by a consortium of CE Delft, Ricardo-AEA, Ecologic Institute, E-Bridge and REKK, and been published recently on DG Energy's website. The audience consisted of around 25 representatives of DG GROW, AGRI, ENV, RTD, JRC, CLIMA, COMP, TAXUD, TRADE, Legal Service and Secretariat General. The presentation is available for download.

In her introduction, Paula Abreu Marques, head of the unit on Renewable and CCS policy at DG Energy, mentioned that a summary of the evaluation had been included in the recent renewable energy progress report of the EU Commission. The presentation of the study, held by Bettina Kampman, focused on the objectives of the evaluation, the methodology, main conclusions, best practices and key issues, and main recommendations. In the subsequent discussion, participants raised and discussed issues related both to contents, and to the methodology used in the context of the EU Commission's Regulatory Fitness and Performance programme (REFIT).
